Rehabilitation of Textile Effluent and Sewage Treatment Plant at Mahiyanganaya, Sri Lanka

This ETP treats 1500 kiloliters of a mixture of textile washing and dyeing effluents per day and is constructed by retrofitting in an existing space of 10 m x 15 m and employs a 3 stage chemical precipitation technology superseding the old technology of biological treatment using Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) because, the bacterial organisms never really developed over 5 years. The RBC itself has been adapted to treat the sewage, which was otherwise merely flowing out and has adopted itself admirably. The steel clariflocculator is 6m x 6m x 9 m tall with conical hopper and is completely made of Mild Steel plus Stainless steel in the upper water-air interface.
