Certificate for Services rendered by M/s. Creative
Environmental Consultants for bidding for the 40 million
liters daily (mld) advanced activated sludge Sewage
Treatment Plant at Chennai for the Chennai Metropolitan
Water Supply and Sewage Board during 2002.
M/s. Creative Environmental Consultants, AG 122,
River View Colony, Anna Nagar, Chennai 600 040 assisted
us during 2002 in bidding for the design build and
O&M for 10 years of the advanced acivated sludge
sewage treatment plant for 40 mld capacity at Nesapakkam
- Chennai Metropolitan Area Water Supply and Sewarage
Board in Chennai with methane gas recovery and generation
of electrical energy therefrom using gas engines and
to meet the discharge standards of the Government
of India, Ministry of Environment and Forests, (MOEF)
and National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD).
The plant consists of (1) mechanical screens, (2)
detritors for grit removal, (3) primary clarifiers,
(4) aeration tanks, (5) slow speed surface aerators,
(6) secondary clarifiers, (7) Waste sludge pumpsets,
(8) return sludge pumpsets, (9) sludge digesters with
gas based mixing, (10) self regulating gas holders,
(11) gas engines, (12) converters to electrical energy,
(13) bowl centrifuges, (14) digesters, (15) sludge
drying beds for spare capacities., (16) piping and
valves, (17) electronic flow measurements, (18) laboratory,
(19) chlorination of secondary effluents to attain
discharge standards of MPN less than 10000 faecal
coliforms per 100 ml for discharge the treated sewage
directly into the Adyar rivercourse and for farm forestry
for growing commercial tress.
The services provided by M/s. Creative
Environmental Consultants were as under:
1. Analysis of sewage characteristics and validating
the design criteria
2. Evaluation of alternative treatment processes for
economical construction and O&M cost.
3. Establishing the cost effective treatment process
for meeting the MOEF and NRCD standards.
4. Wetting of layout, hydraulics, mechanical and electrical
equipment sizes and specifications.
5. Establishing coliform organisms removal technology
by chlorination.
6. Technical discussions with sub-vendors and O&M
contractors and price negotiations.
7. Cost optimization for construction as well as O&M.
8. Preparing the write-up for tendering including
the construction methodology.
9. Presentations before the expert committee of the
Board constituted with the local Anna University.
10. Preparation of replies to clarifications received
from the board.
11. Providing supervision assistence in construction
and in O&M.
The tenders have been processed by the Board and
Anna University and clarifications have been obtained
from the bidders and opening of the financial bid
is awaited.
The services provided by M/s. Creative Environmental
Consultants were found to be of a professionally high
order, to the expectations of ECCI and timely without
default at any time. We record our appreciation to
